fondTitreRemarkable villages

Labeaume : Love at first sight! Rocks that look like ruins of the Universe with improbable forms of disappeared monsters. At the bottom of its steep and majestic cliffs, the River Beaume welcomes the summer swimmer. And of course the village is one with the cliff with its mansions with arcades and balconies alongside more rustic houses creating calades and narrow and shaded streets. Feel free to laze on the beautiful square Le Sablas at the water’s edge with its impressive plane trees and its beautiful fountain. Although to take all the exceptional dimension of this village, you will have to cross this strange submersible bridge that connects Labeaume to Auriolles and follow for a few meters the path that rises on the opposite bank.

Balazuc : perched on a rocky spur overlooking the Ardèche, this village is labeled one of the most beautiful in France. To discover it at its best, you have to admire it in the late afternoon from the opposite bank when the sun highlights the steeple of its Romanesque church, the remains of its towers and walls, its houses with Roman tiles and mullioned windows.

Le Viel Audon : its visit is a natural complement to that of Balazuc. Accessible by a path along the river, you can do this in some fifteen minutes. This place tells the story of a handful of dreamers who for 30 years restored this village with the help of more than 10,000 young volunteers, as part of international projects which provided assistance throughout these years. It is still an associative location where ten people live throughout the year as part of a reasoned management of resources. Great example of rehabilitation, environmental protection and sustainable development. On site, there is a small shop with products from the farm, refreshment and catering area offering local and fair trade products.
